Focus over the past month has been the trail elbow and transition at the top. I have a tendency to get across the line and the club gets unstable at the top which you can see in the first swing. Focus has been keeping whole swing more on plane, trail elbow tracking back in and a smoother more shallow transition back down. Feel that’s been helping me achieve this is the feeling of the trail wrist dropping behind with the weight of the club head. It’s important here that when doing this the entire trail shoulder doesn’t drop down to shallow the club. It’s the wrist positions and lowering of the arms in the downswing that causes the shallowing. My tendency is to have everything drop behind me and it makes it hard to get the club back out in front from this position. I’ve also tried to feel a shorter backswing and the arms tracking straight back down on the same plane as the backswing. Going slowly and the pause drill helps with this. Rotate to the top pause for a second or two then rotate back through the shot. When this is done right it feels like you can stop anywhere in the backswing then just rotate back down through the ball. It’s hard to focus on more than one or two things. While working on this my strike has suffered a little and my compression with my irons through impact isn’t amazing right now, everything is a bit high with a weaker ball flight. I’m going to keep ingraining this movement and slowly focus more on getting that strike quality back the rest of this month. #swingchanges #golfnz #golflife #golfswing #golfaddict #golftraining #golfcoaching #golfpractice

I’m excited to start this chapter of my journey! πŸ”₯ Besides actually playing golf there hasn’t been much in the way of health and fitness since leaving the military. Between squash and football, basically my entire life I’ve played high level competitive sport and it’s frustrating when the body doesn’t allow you to do it anymore. These days golf’s my outlet, I want to be able to play this awesome game until I’m old and I also want to be able to play sports and be active with my kids when they’re older. Now is the time.
